Weekly, Biweekly or Monthly? Choosing a Cleaning Schedule Honestly

Tidy, well-maintained living space kept clean on a recurring cleaning schedule

Most households are sold a frequency rather than fitted to one. Four questions settle it in about a minute.

Cleaning frequency should be a calculation, not a sales pitch. Four things decide it: how many people live in the home, whether any of them are children under about ten, whether there are shedding pets, and how much daily tidying the household genuinely does — not how much it intends to do.

Weekly makes sense for larger households, homes with young children, homes with more than one shedding pet, and anyone who works long enough hours that daily upkeep realistically is not happening. In these homes a biweekly gap is long enough that every other visit turns into recovery work rather than maintenance, which is a slower and more expensive way to arrive at the same place.

Biweekly is where most households land, and it is what we recommend most often. It holds kitchens and bathrooms comfortably, keeps floors and dust from compounding, and costs meaningfully less over a year than weekly service. For two working adults, or a small family with one pet, biweekly is usually the right answer.

Monthly works for smaller households that keep up with daily tidying themselves, second homes, and lightly used spaces. Be honest with yourself here though: monthly service in a busy family home is not a cleaning plan, it is twelve small deep cleans a year, and it will be priced accordingly.

You are allowed to change your mind. Frequency is not a contract you are locked into — several of our DMV clients start biweekly, watch what happens over the first month, and move to weekly once they see what school-year traffic actually does to a house. Others go the other way after their kids move out. Adjusting the plan to the house is the whole point.
